Texting and Talking, Can You Handle Two Conversations at Once?

Texting and Talking, Can You Handle Two Conversations at Once?

Doug Kooy interviewing John FluevogSo have you ever been in a conversation with someone who is at the same time texting with someone else? It drives me nuts. Its like the guys at concerts who are videoing on their cell phones and they are not really in the moment. I love high tech but sometimes high tech turns into high anxiety. So the question begs to be asked, with all of devices that we have to assist us in communication are we really communicating better?

I like face book but to be honest I do not have five hundred friends. I really only communicate with about ten people. I think face book really is a form of socialized voyeurism. The reason we started sowhatdoyouthink.com is to try to develop a way for people to talk about subjects that are a little deeper than, what did you do last night.

I still have not got my head around face time. Do I really want people seeing me when I am talking to them? The idea that this could become a normal thing has some weird potential. People could now see real time things that I may not want them to see at anytime. So what do you think? I am an old guy, I remember when t.v. only had three stations and you had something called rabbit ears not cable. I remember the first cell phones they were huge. I also remember my first computer, My first computer could not do half the things my cell phone does today.

So I walk around today and I look like a mac salesman, I have my I pad, Mac Book and I phone and someday I may have an I me a total clone of myself. Ah the wonder of it all. Now I am trying to figure out how to trade my I4 phone in for a I phone 4s. The idea of talking to my computer phone and having it give me answers is stare trek and James Bond stuff rolled into one.

Soon we will have the Idate. A computer model who you can take to the movies and because she or he is not human you may not have to pay for a ticket. After the movie you can go for dinner and discuss world events and who is doing what to whom. It would be a cheap date and would provide stimulating conversation. You could even take this further but I don’t want to think about it.

Who knows your new best friend in the future may not be human or animal but android. All of this is to much for an old guy to think about. So what do you you think?

In the realm of human interaction is it really helping or is it just developing a race of shallow people?

Steve Jobs dead at 56, How Did He Influence You?

Steve Jobs best known for iMac, itunes, ipad, iphone and Pixar films is dead at 56 years of age.
He was quoted as saying, “death is very likly the best invention of life. All pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure, these things just fall away in the face of death. Leaving only what is really important.”
Woody Allen said, “I don’t mind death I just don’t want to be there when it happens.” Death is something you cannot buy your way out of. No matter how educated, how creative, how important you may be death is no respecter of persons.
I have never known Steve Jobs but I wish I could have. He was gifted with the ability to amass a fortune. He died much to early. I hope you enjoy the video.
