Wisdom for your health is a series of segments that we are doing with Julene Wisdom. Julene is an amazing women. She had to struggle to get her education. The one thing about Julene is she is not a quitter. One big challenge for Julene was her weight. At one time she put on over 70 pounds and was very concerned about her health and her appearance. This struggle is what motivated her to learn about how her body works and how to be a healthy person. Today Julene works at Marks Pharmacy in Vancouver B.C. which is located at 22nd and Oak street. This is an amazing pharmacy that specializes in natural products that help prevent diseases and they also do a great job of detecting potential health problems.
As a testimony to their effectiveness, I have lost over 30 pounds and my knee, which has been giving me problems for years, is feeling so much better.

Conventional medicine is not bad but it is not all there is. For example have you heard of thermography? Julene Wisdom explains it in our video. Traditional mammograms and X-rays are good to a point but to really see what is going on thermography is the way to go.
I have never really understood why some people are afraid of holistic medicine. It seems like the more natural the cure the better. This is why I like Mark’s Pharmacy it does not do away with the prescription drugs but they offer alternatives that may help prevent, strengthen and improve our over all health.
I am an example of that. I have a very bad knee and I have had surgery. The problem is that it is arthritic and the doctor said live with it for as long as you can but when the pain get to bad we will do a knee replacement. This is not what I wanted to hear so I checked out some alternatives. The good news is that the knee is feeling a whole lot better and who knows I may not need the surgery.

Sugar in Food, One of the Major Contributors to Heart Disease
Have you noticed how much sugar there is in the food we eat? Sugar seems to be added to everything we eat. We are sugar addicts and we don’t even know it. When I came over to North America from Korea I was shocked by how many obese people their are. One of the main reasons it seems is the usage of sugar.
Let’s understand one thing, sugar is one of the main reasons so many people in North America are so unhealthy. Sugar is toxic like tobacco or alcohol. According to research, sugar is one of major contribution to heart disease, diabetes, obesity and even cancer. So many people are arguing that sugar should be regulated like tobacco and alcohol because it is so harmful! What Do You Think?
A good example of how easily we are deceived is Vita Water a product of the coke a cola company.
You would be surprised how much sugar is in Vita Water. A whopping 9 tea spoons of sugar which is the same amount as a can of Coke. VIta Water Is just sugar water. It is shocking the truth of Vitamin water. It has used to be regarded as a healthy drink and the advertisement says ” It improved the health”. In fact, vitamin water is just sugar water! But as you see the label on the drink shows that only 13g sugar and 100% vitamin.
Let me tell you how cleverly Coca Cola defines the sugar amount. They make 1/20 out of bottle to be 2.5 serving. If you drink entire contents, you actually get 32.5g of sugar, not a 13g on the label. That is as much sugar as soda.

Ryan is a young man on a mission. He is all about living life to its fullest. We all have various opportunities that come our way. The option is usually complicated by the concept of moving out of our comfort zone. The key to moving out of our comfort zone means moving away from fear. Fear is the number one killer of vision.
Fear has been described as false evidence appearing real. We get excited about the possibilities and then fear sets in. You may hear things like your to old, you do not have enough education, why do you think you can do this?
Sometimes you have to doubt your doubts and go for it. Ryan is 29 and he has an opportunity to spend a year in another country. It will be a whole different culture, different language, different customs and he will be stretched. However he will have an adventure.
Life goes by very fast and you do not want to live your life without really living. So what is your take on adventure? What turns your creative crank? Are you listening to the voice of fear or faith. Fear says why , faith says why not.

So it has finally hit me…I am getting old. So how old? So what do you think? With this revelation It has caused me to think a bit about life and remember a lifetime. I have experienced so much in my years. I have traveled to a whole lot of countries and I have meet some great people. I almost died a few times and I like most of us have regrets. One of the good things about my life is the women I married. I married up. We have been married over 40 years now and I hope we have another 40. She has taught me so much about love, acceptance and forgiveness. I am a fortunate man. I watched the day a man stepped on the moon, I have laughed my self silly watching John Candy and I took the magical mystery tour with the Beatles. So many of my heros died., Elvis, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, John Lennon to name a few.
We now live in a generation where technology is opening so many new doors to us. The computer has made the world very small. We are becoming a one world nation in so many ways. However with this advancement we have not been able to advance the human soul. People are still killing people. Disease is still rampant, children are dying right now by the thousands for something as simple as not having water.
What is it going to take for humans to advance in the most important area of all. How do we get to a place where we stop doing ourselves in . We eat to much, we are self serving and far to often we just don’t give a damn about the poverty and hunger that is all around us.
The Beatles lyrics said it in song written by John Lennon, “All we are saying is give peace a chance.” The other song title said, “Love, Love is all you need.” So why, why have we seen so many advancements in so many areas but we are lacking in the most important of all….how do we simply get along in the most basic of areas ….relationships…
The link between drinking a sufficient amount of pure water and achieving a healthy weight loss is crucial, but it’s one fraught with possible dangers.
One of the problems is that of drinking plastic bottled water. Specifically from plastic that contains Bisphenol A – commonly called BPA.
BPA is a zenoestrogen and consuming it can create an estrogen imbalance in the body which potentially may cause problems; including headaches, fatigue, impaired liver function and weight gain, among many other things. What happens with the liver is that it struggles to break down proteins and fats from what we eat, leading to an inefficiency in obtaining the nutrients we need.
So, do you drink plastic bottled water? (Check out the internet regarding recycling symbols on your bottles and for advice on what plastics are safe to drink from)
And remember, at least 8 glasses (9-13 cups) of filtered water a day. But, I hear you cry, what type of filter? Yes, it can be a bit of a minefield. We’ll discuss that topic next time.
