This just might be the ultimate question, or in the very least an important one. Whether or not one believes in God, if you were given only one question, what would you ask God? I suppose people who don’t believe in a God of some kind might use that question to ask if He even exists, but what question might you ask?

The question I need to ask God is, why is there individuals on the planet that believe it is okay to ignore or mistreat the weak, or medically challenged, and believe that they are superior to those of misfortune, and do not have life lessons to straighten most of them out to be better people in society or even to their loved ones? Why is it that the good people are always suffering?
It's called survival of the fittest in relation to the natural law, that weak are 'culled', but as far as humanity looking as an insensitive horde that allows it's disenfranchised to suffer without help, that is simply not entirely true. In part, it is…but millions, even billions are spent in the West in programs designed specifically to help those who are mentally defective, physically challenged or contending with life challenges. As for the famine that is currently killing millions in Africa, in considering of what you believe to be 'god'…well, that's not man's doing, you'd have to talk to god on that one if that were even possible. You see, god simply allows humans to suffer and die is misery all throughout history and that's fact, not opinion. Watching babies starve and die, watching children suffer in pain…god is a specialist is cultivating that kind of thing. Historical record, if you believe some dictatorial, facist like sky daddy is really running the show, it is one uncaring and evil entity. If 'it' did exist…but it doesn't, so we only have the natural law, softened by the inherent good nature of nuturing human consciousness.
Dear God, here is my question, I am trying to understand Christianity and wondering if I got this right…
Christianity is the belief that a cosmic Jewish zombie who is his own father, (you) can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh, drink his blood and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in all humanity because a rib-woman was convinced to eat from a magical tree by an infinitely sadistic being disguised as a talking snake with legs….
Is that right?
Thanks for your time.
This is not really a comment on that post, but rather a comment on the site's positioning.
Been following this site for a bit, as I was interested to see what Doug Kooy was doing now, as I used to enjoy him on Now TV. I do think you need to update your about us page. It definitely does not say what this site is becoming. The opinions and the material is becoming more overtly Christian.
If that is the direction and base you want to have with the site, Doug, you need to be straight with that and bill this as a Christian site. I always have a problem when Christians overtly try and do this and don't proclaim that they are Christian and they are spreading a Christian message, usually – and I am not saying this is what you are doing Doug, it is because they recognize they may lose some of those non-Christian viewers who will then not be seeing the very prominent advertising on the site., and thus diminish the site revenue.
In my respectful opinion, no having a strong position is actually going to harm you in the long run.
Hi Frank.
This is simply an opinion site. If you followed my show you would know that one of our strong points was listening to what others have to say. Because I am a Christian my views may come out but the important thing is that this is a site where bridges can be built.
Could you give me an example of what you might call overtly Christian? The last question we asked had to do with God and as you could see we had a lot of different opinions in regards to what you would ask God.
Personally I am the kind of person that wants to hear not just speak. It is so important that we hear each other. That is what So What Do You Think is all about not just speaking our opinions but hearing what others have to say. In my opinion this is what has been lacking in a lot of Christians..
Simply put I hope we can be quick to hear and slow to speak….Thanks for your comments I am just going to try to be me….No major agenda just being who I am….and I hope to hear from a whole lot of people who will share there views with respect and give people with other opinions the dignity that they would like to have when they share there own views.
Thank you for your comments and they are heard.
Doug
Chris you bring up a great question. I remember asking that same question just after the birth of our first child.
I remember being so blown away at the creation of a new human being. It was in Hawaii and I walked on the beach for hours just thinking and asking questions. The beginning of true knowledge comes from asking questions. In a strange way I had a lot of questions answered for me that night. Walking on a beach looking at nature in all its glory and seeing also the birth of a human that never existed before and realizing I had participated in creation sure helped me on my journey of faith. Creation needs a creator that is where it started with me…..does that make any sense to you? I am sure it creates a lot more questions….but it is a start.
Sub note: religious texts or books do not count as indisputable proof of god because none of the separate theologies agree as to which story one is accurate. So, if the last evidence we have of God is more than 2000 years old then humanity is well overdue for an update. To establish God as a fact we would require live and ongoing communication which no-one could deny. Out of date information is just not reliable.
So the question should be has God stopped communicating with man? There are millions of people who believe that God still communicates with them today. They believe that they have a channel to God and most call this prayer. (Real prayer is not just talking but also listening) So even thou the Bible was written thousands of years ago there has been an on going communication with humanity since the beginning of time until now. I remember sitting in a meeting and hearing someone say God spoke to me and I personally thought the guy was nuts. People in mental hospitals say that all the time. However I have now meet some very sane people who also say that God speaks to them on a regular basis……So what do you think?
INTERVIEW WITH GOD
Question 1: It seems clear to the great majority of scientists that the fossil record is evidence that one organism evolved into another. However, I must ask, God did you in fact create the universe and initiate the process of evolution (like a seed in the earth that grows or somehow guiding the process along) OR is the universe simply an eternal entity, which creates and destroys itself naturally (rather than supernaturally)?
Question 2: God, if you are in fact real and all powerful, then why all the secrecy about your existence? Why not just reveal yourself to the world, book an interview on CNN, put forth indisputable proof of your existence and explain to humanity in no uncertain terms what you actually want from us. Then all these horrible religious hatreds and feuds could simply be put to rest. Come on already, explain who or what you are, because humanities guesses are getting really problematic?
