Are London’s Britches Falling Down?

Nude workers on their way to work in the London UndergroundOk I have now heard it all. Nude workers on their way to work in the London Underground In London a group of business people decided to go to work in the nude. Yes you heard right nude. The only thing they had to cover themselves were there briefcases. So what do I think? Simple… they should be arrested and see how a cold cell fits there liberated or unzipped lifestyle. If you want to be a nudist that is your choice but please do not make me partake in your lifestyle. You see I may be old fashioned and it may seem strange but I kind of like the idea of a society that has some decency about it. We should have some moral standards that the public as a whole abides by.

I keep thinking of the school children that would also be using the public transport and they are exposed and exposed is the right word when it comes to the wackos who feel it is their right to strut their stuff in front of children. I am sorry but you should be in jail and you should be fined for your lack of dignity when it comes to how you conduct yourself in a public place. We have laws in regards to noise, speeding, littering and various other socially acceptable laws. Why would we allow these perverts to take their clothes off and expose their nude bodies for young eyes. These people are weird and should be treated as such. This is my opinion and I would love to hear what you have to say.

You're also forgetting that this is London in Europe and not "our streets", so what you may think is inappropriate here in Canada and the vast majority of people will agree with you, is not so inappropriate there. My other question, what about the naked bike marathon, I think that came through Vancouver, how do you feel about that?

    • Doug Kooy says:

So your saying London is fine with open nudity on the streets? Perhaps that is why they call it jolly ol London. The naked bike ride is a farce it is an excuse for a bunch of exhibitionist to take off their clothes and exhibit their stuff. As one young tourist from Seattle (age 9 or 10) said as the bikers passed through Granville Island, "mommy why are these people naked and riding bikes is this normal in Canada?" Apparently so! Hey we even supervise drug addicts and help them shoot up. We also let people harass our tourist friends and beg for money .

So the deal is ride your bike naked for charity and there is nothing wrong with it. Situation Ethics at it's best. Morals who needs them anyway? Canada did not lose its moral compass I don't think it had one to begin with. So what do you think? What would you take your clothes off for? Does open nudity bother you? How about swearing? Does anything bother anyone anymore? Hey if it feels good do it.

However, most great countries do not fall from the outside they fall from the inside&hellips; do you agree?

According to the original article, these were actors hired to promote a TV show. They're not nudists trying to indoctrinate the wholesome youth of London. Most likely they had a permit for this, explaining why they weren't arrested.

But really, what's the big deal? The most esteemed museums around the world are packed with sculptures of the naked human form in all its beauty. You don't see hordes of schoolchildren racing there to get a dose of indecency.

Also, some basic grammar please: "ARE London's Britches Falling Down." Come on Doug, you're a journalist. Even if there's no agreement in these opinions, there at the very least ought to be some verb agreement in your writing.

    • Doug Kooy says:

I think of myself as a communicator but that said you are right about the grammar. I will let you in on a secret that line was not written by me.

Are you saying if I can get a permit it makes it right? OK here is my question, should we have some moral codes for how we live in community? We enforce on where people can smoke in public and we enforce a number of social laws . How about a couple gay or straight who decides that making love in a crowded subway at rush hour would be fun. We teach sex Ed. In school so why would this be a problem. I like sex but call me old fashioned but I believe it should not be allowed on our city streets. So what do you think

    • Max says:

Yes, Doug did not write the headlines… It is fixed.
